Casamance is an area in Senegal wedged between the Gambia in the north and Guinea-Bissau in the south.
It is the most fertile region in Senegal with many mangroves,deltas,forests and vast beaches.
It is sometimes called the rice barn of Senegal and the landscape also remains green all year round.
The Casamance river of the same name also flows through this area from east to west.
It is a very watery area , you can spend days sailing a piroque,Ile De Oiseaux and ethnic
visit villages,admire the fauna and flora and relax on the beautiful beaches of Cap Skirring.
With its wide avenues and many Portuguese-colonial buildings, Ziguinchor is the largest city.

With the piroque we sail to the village of Djilapao
It is a small community and we visit an artisan hut there that has become a museum us.
We sail on to Affiniam also a typical Diola village where we visit a hospital,nursery and vegetable gardens.
Honey,soap,mango,jam and spicy chillies are also produced.
The village is also known for palm oil and rice.

Lunch and overnight stay
Visit to the small town of Oussouye where a king still reigns.
In Sigana, we visit a giant cheese tree in the village square and take a forest walk.
Visit Edioungou and on to Elinkine where we take the piroque to the island of Carabane.
Overnight and a city visit to Carabane.
Continue by piroque to the island of Hitou where animistic rituals are still regularly performed.
From Carabane, we sail back to Elinkine where we continue to the paradisiacal beaches of Cap Skirring.
